Treatment of Recession

Certain types of gum recession can be treated to cover the exposed root of the tooth. It is important to cover the exposed root whenever possible because it is made of a softer material that is more prone to decay and sensitivity.

A soft tissue graft is usually recommended to cover the exposed root surface. The soft tissue graft may consist of tissue from the roof of your mouth, repositioned healthy tissue from neighboring teeth, or synthetic donor tissue. The new graft will attach to the root of the tooth and will serve as a new protective barrier that leaves your smile looking beautiful and healthy.

If you are a hard brusher or use a hard bristled toothbrush, techniques will be taught to give you that same clean feeling without causing trauma to your gums and teeth.
